The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) is set to announce the next cohort of entrepreneurs for its 2025 entrepreneurship programme—marking another milestone in its mission to drive inclusive economic transformation across Africa. At a time when the continent faces high youth unemployment and volatile economic conditions, TEF’s commitment to nurturing small businesses and startups is becoming increasingly vital. Since its launch in 2015, the programme has empowered more than 18,000 entrepreneurs across all 54 African countries, backed by a $100 million pledge to foster innovation, job creation, and sustainable growth.

What makes this initiative stand out is not just the financial support—each selected entrepreneur receives $5,000 in non-refundable seed capital—but the depth of its training and mentorship structure. Participants undergo a comprehensive 12-week digital training course, access a pan-African network of experienced mentors, and gain visibility among global investors. This integrated approach has been key to transforming fledgling ideas into thriving enterprises with lasting economic impact. The 2025 cohort is expected to include businesses spanning critical sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, healthcare, and technology—industries that are central to solving many of Africa’s most pressing challenges.

The foundation’s ability to scale its reach is further enhanced by its partnerships with international organizations such as the European Union, United Nations Development Programme, and African Development Bank. These collaborations ensure that capital and knowledge are effectively channelled to underserved communities, helping to build resilient, grassroots economies. With Africa’s population projected to double by 2050, initiatives like TEF are not just timely—they are essential. Entrepreneurship is emerging as one of the most powerful tools to stimulate innovation, build local industries, and create employment opportunities at scale.

As anticipation builds for the announcement of the 2025 cohort, the Tony Elumelu Foundation continues to reinforce its position as a key catalyst for African entrepreneurship. By equipping the next generation of business leaders with funding, skills, and strategic support, the programme is doing more than uplifting individuals—it is laying the groundwork for a stronger, more self-reliant economic future across the continent.
