Unveils Academy for Women Entrepreneurs in Europe

The initiative aims to empower female entrepreneurs by offering advanced educational training, mentoring, and networking opportunities.

AWE is described as a “free advanced educational training and networking programme addressed to female owners, entrepreneurs, or co-owners of businesses across the EU,” according to The Academy’s establishment follows a comprehensive study conducted by Alibaba, revealing the challenges faced by female entrepreneurs in Europe. The study found that 94% of respondents cited societal expectations and gender stereotypes as major barriers to business leadership, while nearly 60% highlighted gender as the reason for business failure.

To address these disparities, has designed the AWE initiative to provide female business owners or co-owners with valuable skills and knowledge. In its inaugural year, the Academy will welcome forty female-led companies from across Europe. Over a 10-week period, participants will engage with various modules covering leadership, negotiation, strategy, business and financial models, funding, and communications.
