The Field of Skills and Dreams VTE Academy (FSD) has joined forces with the United States Consulate to empower 100 young entrepreneurs in Nigeria. The collaboration aims to equip participants with skills in sustainable fashion design and solar installations, focusing on creating opportunities for underserved communities in Lagos and Ogun States.

During the graduation ceremony for the Life Entrepreneurship Skills for Green Economy Jobs programme held in Lagos, Mrs. Omowale Ogunrinde, the founder of FSD, highlighted the significance of the initiative. She emphasised the importance of addressing waste management by teaching young individuals to transform waste into fashionable outfits. Ogunrinde expressed pride in the growth and innovation demonstrated by the programme’s participants, noting that FSD and its partners have trained over 10,000 individuals in Nigeria since its inception.

The partnership with the US Consulate entails the Consulate covering the tuition fees for the training programme, while FSD takes care of the remaining expenses, ensuring that the students receive the training free of charge. This initiative aligns with the Consulate’s longstanding commitment to equipping Nigerian youths with the skills necessary for job opportunities and economic empowerment.

Will Stevens, the Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, commended the dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of the programme graduates. He emphasised the importance of providing skills relevant to the 21st-century job market, such as sustainable fashion design and solar installations, to empower individuals and communities for the future.

The collaboration between FSD and the US Consulate reflects a shared commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, sustainability, and economic development in Nigeria, empowering individuals to create positive change in their communities.
