Indian Institutes Join Hands to Foster Entrepreneurship

In a significant move to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU, signed at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, during Bharat Tex 2024, marks a collaborative effort aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and incubation facilities in the region.

The signing ceremony was attended by Professor B. S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, and Dr. Javid Wani, Director of NIFT Srinagar. The agreement outlines a framework for cooperation between the two esteemed institutions, encompassing areas such as academics, research, executive education, and training.

Established in 2016, IIM Jammu holds the status of an Institute of National Importance (INI), while NIFT is renowned as a premier institute of fashion education in India, with 18 campuses across the country, including NIFT Srinagar. Together, these institutions aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving.

Through this collaboration, IIM Jammu and NIFT Srinagar aspire to nurture a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, leveraging their respective expertise to drive economic growth and sustainability in Jammu and Kashmir. By promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange, the MoU sets the stage for transformative initiatives that will empower aspiring entrepreneurs and contribute to the socio-economic development of the Indian region.
