London Fund Targets Early-Stage Industrial Innovation

London venture capital firm AP Ventures has closed a $300 million fund to invest in early-stage industrial and energy technology companies, providing capital for businesses attempting to commercialise products in sectors that can be expensive to enter.
The firm announced the final close of its third fund on Wednesday, with commitments from institutional investors including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, corporations and family offices. Since the fund's initial close in 2024, it has invested in 13 companies. AP Ventures focuses on seed and Series A businesses, supporting founders beyond initial research and into industrial deployment.
Its investments include Aether Fuels, which develops liquid fuels from waste gases and biomass, and CREW Carbon, which uses mineral-based processes in wastewater treatment and carbon removal. Other holdings include Rosy Soil, a developer of peat-free growing products, and Reclinker, which works on recycling used cement through electric arc furnace processes. The portfolio spans hydrogen, carbon utilisation, advanced materials and industrial recycling.
Unlike software start-ups, many industrial ventures must prove their technology through physical plants, specialist equipment and lengthy customer testing before they can grow substantially. Industrial founders often need investors prepared to support longer development cycles. Those requirements can make financing and commercial adoption difficult even where demand is evident. AP Ventures is positioning its latest fund around pressures on energy supply, industrial productivity and access to critical materials. Its success will depend on whether portfolio companies can progress from promising prototypes to dependable products that industrial customers are willing to purchase at scale.
