An increasing number of Nebraska-based companies are making their mark among the fastest-growing private firms in the nation, as evidenced by the surge in local representation on this year’s Inc. 5000 list. A total of 41 companies hailing from Nebraska have secured positions on the prestigious list, reflecting a notable surge from previous years. The trend of steady growth in the number of rapidly expanding enterprises in the state has been evident over the last few years, with 34 firms on the list in the preceding year, 32 in 2021, and 25 in 2020.

Leading the pack among Nebraska companies is Summit Medical Staffing, located in Fremont, which clinched the impressive 24th spot overall. The firm achieved a remarkable three-year growth in revenue, clocking in at an astounding 12,053%. This achievement marks the highest ranking a Nebraska-based company has secured in the history of the Inc. 5000 list.

Summit Medical Staffing, recognised for its role in providing medical staff to hospitals and related facilities, appears to have capitalised on the surge in demand for short-term staff, including traveling nurses, amid the pandemic. Notably, this marks the second consecutive year that Summit Medical has been the fastest-growing Nebraska firm, maintaining its position as a consistent standout on the list for three consecutive years.

Bill Watts, the CEO and founder of Summit Medical Staffing, expressed gratitude for the achievement, stating, “We are honoured to be part of the Inc. 5000 for the third-consecutive year. This is an extremely proud and humbling moment for me, and our entire staff. For Summit, this is a team goal, a team accomplishment and we will celebrate as a team!”

Among the Lincoln-based companies on the list, Hilgers Graben stands out as the highest-ranking, securing the 637th position with an impressive 916% revenue growth over the past three years. This law firm, founded by Attorney General Mike Hilgers, has achieved this recognition for the fifth time.

In addition to Hilgers Graben, eight other Lincoln-based companies have earned spots on the Inc. 5000 list, marking the highest representation from the city since the list’s expansion from 500 to 5,000 companies in 2007. The Lincoln companies, along with their ranks and three-year revenue growth percentages, are as follows:
