Shell has unveiled the expansion of its enterprise development initiative, Shell LiveWIRE, across Scotland to assist entrepreneurs in navigating business hurdles and driving innovation.

Initially launched in North-East Scotland, the programme now spans the entire country, offering tailored support to businesses focusing on energy transition-related products and services that contribute to societal benefits.

This fully-funded initiative provides comprehensive coaching and mentoring to business founders and directors, equipping them with essential skills, access to resources, and expanded networks.

The revamped Shell LiveWIRE programme, introduced at the beginning of 2024, was specifically designed to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Aberdeenshire to achieve growth. Following its success, the programme has been extended nationwide in Scotland.

Shell UK has appointed Elevator UK, a seasoned business support organisation with over 20 years of experience, to deliver the Shell LiveWIRE programme. Elevator leverages its extensive network of partners, regional councils, and government bodies to provide tailored support to participating businesses.

The Scotland-wide initiative kicks off in June with an introductory session followed by engaging workshops facilitated by industry experts. Additionally, residential challenge days will offer participants collaborative opportunities with fellow entrepreneurs.

Upon completion of the programme, participants will gain access to the Shell LiveWIRE global alumni network, Shell UK mentors, and the prestigious Shell LiveWire Top Ten Innovators competition.

Karen Clark, Programme & Events Operations Manager at Elevator, expressed enthusiasm about the programme’s growth and its impact on participants. She highlighted the transformative experience offered by Shell LiveWIRE, providing SMEs with valuable time for reflection and idea generation.

Interested businesses in Scotland meeting specific criteria are encouraged to apply by May 27th. Successful applicants will participate in a challenge day in June, followed by an onboarding day in July.

Nassima Brown, a current participant in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire cohort, praised the programme for its role in accelerating the growth of her company, Fennex. She emphasised the invaluable support and tools provided by Shell LiveWIRE and Elevator, empowering her to think big and pursue ambitious goals.

Professor Gary McEwan, CEO of Elevator, highlighted the impactful partnership with Shell UK and the tangible benefits experienced by SMEs in the programme. He underscored the collaborative effort’s role in driving meaningful change and fostering entrepreneurship in Scotland.

Anthony Harte, Head of Social Impact at Shell UK, expressed excitement about the programme’s expansion and its potential to catalyse progress, innovation, and economic growth. He reiterated the company’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and strengthening local economies through impactful initiatives like this.
