At the Web Summit in Lisbon, Visa announced a new initiative recognizing digital creators as small businesses, granting them access to financial tools and resources traditionally available only to conventional small enterprises. The move is aimed at empowering creators to better manage their ventures and navigate the growing digital economy.
Visa’s support includes business cards, payment controls, and access to Practical Business Skills, a program designed to enhance financial literacy. A recent Visa survey highlighted a key issue for creators: over two-thirds reported delays in payments. To address this, Visa is promoting its Visa Direct service, which facilitates real-time payments through partnerships with social media platforms and marketplaces, ensuring creators receive funds instantly to their debit cards.

Jonathan Kolozsvary, Global Head of Small Business at Visa, emphasized the importance of creators in the digital economy. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see the world finally recognizing creators as the driving force behind the digital economy. We are proud to help creators grow their businesses—whether it’s providing small working capital solutions or enabling real-time payments,” he said.
The initiative also builds on Visa’s educational programs like ‘GetP@id,’ a series that guides creators on monetizing their content. Additionally, Visa is set to host the Visa Creator Summit in Tokyo, in partnership with Amplify, where industry leaders will offer insights on managing a creator business.

Expanding its social impact, Visa has partnered with Pharrell Williams to support his Black Ambition and YELLOW programs, which offer financial literacy resources to students.
Visa’s new support framework reflects its recognition of creators as integral players in the digital economy, providing them with essential resources to succeed and grow.
